Don Lent Studio
.

The horse paintings were made in the second half of 2010 and early 2011 in Rollinsford, NH. I saw the horses at the U.N.H. stables and in the fields of various horse farms along the coast.
Before this group I did similar studies of other animals --goats, sheep, cows, birds. And I have continued to study all of them .
I draw, paint in oils and watercolor, and make etchings, I am most interested in observation and construction of images and look to the work to provide me with discoveries and sometimes, if I am lucky, a kind of poetry.

I have also focused on the urban landscape: bridges, the subway, and large buildings and I will include some of these images in the Works section

Currently my studio is in Exeter, New Hampshire and out my window I see shore birds --Heron Gulls, seven Cormorants and four Great Blue Herons when the tide is down. But also buildings and a footbridge along the shore of the river. And looking back from the other side of the river, a view of the town of Exeter that suggests Vermeer' s View of Delft.
